2015 PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
Save the Children’s programming will directly contribute to saving at least 650,000 newborns, children and pregnant women each year and over 3 million indirect beneficiaries including their families through: |

| Pursuing opportunities to test different interventions addressing the main causes of newborn deaths in India through our Saving Newborn Lives programme. |

|
 |
| Demonstrating high impact and innovative methods to mobilise communities to improve their access to these essential health and nutrition services. |
|
|
 |
| Enhancing the capacity of Government healthcare and nutritional service providers to deliver quality essential maternal, newborn, child health and locally relevant nutrition services to all sections of society, focus on reaching the most marginalized and vulnerable including severe acutely malnourished children |
|
|
 |
| Bringing about appropriate, beneficial newborn, child health and nutrition-related behaviours |

|
| |
| We are also active in responding to all major new emergencies in India focusing on health and nutrition for children under five and pregnant mothers. |

2015 ADVOCACY OBJECTIVES
Save the Children believes that a number of key changes can be made to help the country save children lives. These include: |

| to support mothers during birth, early postnatal care, preventive and curative treatment for pneumonia, diarrhoea and malaria |
|
|
 |
| support for nutrition, including breastfeeding, complementary feeding and social protection measures. |
|
|
 |
| Government expenditure on maternal and child health to be given priority within the health budget and expenditure on health should more than double |
|
|
 |
| between the ministries which deal with health, children's nutrition, drinking water and sanitation, and NREGA (National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) to build stronger integrated systems at the local level |
